We cannot hope to create lasting change if the investment horizon of the social investment only runs from election to election
— ĀKINA BOARD CHAIR, TE PŪOHO KATENE. WAATEA NEWS, JULY 2024

Ākina has produced a white paper showing how social outcomes can be at the heart of financial decision making using unique Aotearoa values rather than just adopting overseas approaches.

Foundation chair Te Pūoho Katene says social investment was part of the last Government’s policy, and he pleased to see Finance Minister Nicola Willis also included references in her Budget.

“We cannot hope to create lasting change if the investment horizon of the social investment only runs from election to election. We’re encouraging a bipartisan approach that ensures the mindset shift is going to be long lived and the certainty that comes with that long-lived decision making can really drive social delivery of these kaupapa,” he says.
