Acknowledging the Passing of Kīngi Tūheitia and Extending Respects to Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po

The Ākina Foundation wishes to acknowledge and pay tribute to the passing of Kīngi Tūheitia and extends its respects to Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po on her succession.

Our thoughts join those of the motu in aroha to the whānau of Kīngi Tūheitia, who graciously allowed the world to join them in mourning. Arohanui ki a koutou i tēnei wā pōuri.

As a charitable trust with the privilege of carrying a Māori name, Ākina is committed to contributing to a more equitable society, celebrating the unique role Te Ao Māori plays in Aotearoa New Zealand, and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
