Environment Hubs Aotearoa's Journey to Impact

Environment Hubs Aotearoa (EHA) operates a network of hubs - empowering community resilience and connection to te taiao.

The hubs lead regeneration, conservation, and education programmes that result in significant environmental outcomes and promote strong community engagement and environmental awareness.

What was the challenge?

EHA wished to explore and articulate the impact of EHA in a variety of ways, from a high level elevator pitch to a detailed model.  Developing a strategic plan and identifying high impact opportunities would allow them to develop impact communication materials for an investor audience.

What did we do together?

Ākina worked with EHA to identify and operationalise a fresh set of impact goals which have become the foundation for their Strategic Partnership Proposal and future conversations with new potential partners and investors. We worked together to identify high impact opportunities and develop a pitch pack with which to approach potential partners and investors.

“In working with Ākina we entered a robust process that enabled us as an organisation to capture our strategic intent, work streams, and priorities from our formation up to this point. This was a sizeable amount of diverse information in width and depth, and the Ākina team eased us through some gritty thinking to genuinely form our theory of change and a narrative that we have consensus on and are confident that fully represents us, our members, and where we are headed into the future.  It was a valuable and positive experience” - Tash Mcgowan – Partnerships And Revenue Specialist (EHA)

What changed for the better?

This work enabled EHA to gain clarity on their potential to deliver impact as a connector, translator and navigator for community groups and funders.  This brings greater cohesion to a historically fragmented environmental funding landscape.
