Paul Dunphy

Paul has an extensive background in in local government, specialising in event bidding, where he has gained an international reputation as one of the world’s foremost experts in understanding how major events can enhance a city’s global profile while at the same time bring tangible social and economic benefits.

Paul established the event prospecting and bidding function in Auckland and attracted over 30 international events to the region including FIFA U20 World Cup, World Triathlon Series, World Masters Games, Volvo Ocean Race.

Paul has a Masters of Business majoring in Tourism from AUT University and was awarded a Ministry of Tourism and Visa International Tourism Scholarship for research into the event bidding process.

In December 2016 Paul was inducted into the AUT University School of Hospitality and Tourism Hall of Fame for services to the Tourism and Events industries in Auckland.

Paul is based in Auckland.
