Nicola Nation

Nicola is Ākina’s General Manager Operations. Nicola comes from a professional services background having worked for over 15 years as a management and procurement consultant, in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Transformational changes that she has been involved with include designing and procuring New Zealand’s first all of government professional services contract, building the capability of the UK Fire & Rescue Service to respond to terrorist incidents, and working with ACC to design and contract for health outcomes. Nicola has sourced and negotiated large contracts in the private and public sectors.

Nicola brings to the team a deep understanding of public sector procurement, as well as experience in small business enterprise and growth as a director of several smaller ventures.  Recently Nicola was Chief Operating Office of a technology start-up, which provided hands on experience in the challenges of fast paced change and growth in a agile environment.

Nicola has a reputation for being solution focussed, pragmatic and getting things done.  She will be applying this energy to Ākina as we transform the New Zealand economy through the power of social enterprise.

Nicola is a barrister (and a barister) and holds a LLB / BCA from Victoria University of Wellington.
