Te Hiringa Hononga was a Kaupapa Māori Social Enterprise development programme developed by the Ākina Foundation and Māori Womens Development Inc (MWDI) for whānau, hapū, iwi, entrepreneurs and organisations that wished to learn about the benefits and potential of social enterprise.
Te Hiringa Hononga ran across two regions over a 12 week period and included introductory workshops (Ngā Kākano), a Train the Trainer programme (Awhi Mai – Awhi Atu), and a digital accelerator programme (He Whare Kōhanga) for ventures/enterprises already operating within the community.

Who was Te Hiringa Hononga For?
Te Hiringa Hononga was for individuals, groups, maraes, and/or organisations who were interested and curious about social enterprise. Through the programme, participants learnt more about creating an impact organisation and what that might mean for their community.

A series of Introduction to Social Enterprise workshops and the HineBoss programme were held in both Tairāwhiti and Te Tai Tokerau during April-May 2017.
