Awhi Mai – Awhi Atu: Train the Trainer – Social Enterprise


“Nōu te rourou, Nāku te rourou – Ka ora ai tātou”

Te Hiringa Hononga ran across two regions over a 12 week period and included introductory workshops (Ngā Kākano), a Train the Trainer programme (Awhi Mai – Awhi Atu), and a digital accelerator programme (He Whare Kōhanga) for ventures/enterprises already operating within the community.


He aha te mea? What was it?

Awhi mai, Awhi atu was a training programme for facilitators to build awareness and capability about social enterprise in order to:

  • Understand what social enterprise is and how that applies within a Māori community context.
  • Learn tools and techniques to help guide individuals, whānau and organisations to develop and validate their social enterprise idea.
  • Develop an ability to identify ventures or ideas that could be best suited to a social enterprise development approach.
  • Help build and contribute to a local support eco-system to enable social enterprise to flourish among Māori communities.

Who was Awhi Mai – Awhi Atu For?

 

 

Our team were intentionally seeking individuals who: Were active within the community, had an interest in social enterprise, were prepared to utilise their influence to increase social impact through learning these tools and sharing them with others and had facilitation experience.
