Chapter One: Ākina and the New Zealand Social Enterprise Market Development Project
Following the announcement today from Minister Henare, we’re delighted to confirm that over the next four years our team will be partnering with the Department of Internal Affairs to grow New Zealand’s social enterprise sector.
This announcement comes at a time of rising opportunity and excitement. We saw the need to connect, develop and support the sector echoed by everyone who attended the Social Enterprise World Forum.
So, as a result of this partnership we’ll mobilise our network of social entrepreneurs, practitioners, partners, advisors, investors and educators. Together, we’ll co-design the sector’s future.
Our vision is for a sector that’s cohesive, that leads and governs itself, and that
reflects an equal and creative partnership between civil society, Government, Māori,
business, philanthropy, and local government. We believe that every social entrepreneur and enterprise, regardless of who or where they are, should have access to the support they need to start up and succeed.
With the announcement today, we will begin the strategic planning phase and will be releasing more information about how we will facilitate the co-design process shortly. If you’d like to get in touch or ask questions about this partnership, please connect with us through the form below.
